How to apply for an A24 Group DBS

A step-by-step guide on how to apply for your DBS on Staffshift.

1. Please access www.staffshift.com via an Internet browser, not the mobile app.

2. On the left-hand side menu, click on A24 GROUP DBS

3. If you see the below screen, please click ALLOW:

4. Please read the information and click CONTINUE

5. Please read the DBS Disclaimer, tick the box confirming this, and then CONTINUE.

6. Please click APPLY NOW.

7. Please select ENGLISH from the drop-down menu, and click CONTINUE:

8. The below screen will display, click on CONVICTIONS:

9. Please select YES or NO to the questions as applicable to you, and complete any additional sections where required. NOTE, for the question ‘Have you instigated an A24 Standard or Enhanced disclosure?’, please select YES, then click SAVE.

10. The below screen will now appear. NB, please do NOT change ANY answers on this screen, simply read it, and click SAVE, the correct answers has already been selected.

11. Please capture your Title, ALL your Names, including Middle Names, and your current Surname. If you were born with a different surname than your current one, please also capture the birth surname, as well as the date until you were using this surname, before changing it to your current surname. Then click SAVE.

12. The below screen will now appear. Please update all other names (with the dates used) that you have been known as. If you never had no other names, click NO, and SAVE.

13. You now need to capture your current address. Specifically, we need a continuous 5-year address history, with NO gaps in between. If you have lived at your current address for 5 years or more, then this address will be sufficient. Then SAVE.

14. Please capture some personal details, like date of birth, N.I number (with no spaces), and Nationality (as per your current passport, not your Visa), click SAVE.

15. Please answer all questions relating to your current Passport, then click SAVE.

16. Please answer all questions relating to your driver’s license. If you do not have one, click NO. When done, click SAVE. If you do not wish to supply the information, you may also select that option.

17. You will now see a Summary of the application. Please make sure all details are correct, to avoid errors and delays. If you spot any errors, click on the NAVIGATE TO SECTION icon to edit it.

18. Once you are happy all the info is correct, tick the box to confirm your application at the bottom of the same page, and click SAVE.

19. The below page will now display, please click PAY NOW

You will be re-directed to the below payment page, click on PAY NOW.

20. You can now either pay via your PayPal account, or by using your debit or credit card. Please complete your payment information, and click PAY NOW. You will receive an email from us to confirm that your DBS application and payment has been received.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot process your DBS application without the supporting documents on file. Please refer to this guidance to see the list and combinations of acceptable documents. As a rule of thumb we will need:

a. 2 x Photographic proof of identification documents (e.g. Passport/ driver’s license/ Biometrics card) AND 1 proof of address document (bank statement, credit card statement, P45, P60, utility bill etc.), no older than 3 months,

OR,

b. 1 x Photographic proof of identification document AND 2 x proof of address documents, no older than 3 months, e.g. bank statement, credit card statement, Council Tax statement, P45 or P60. Electronic bank statements or mobile phone bills are NOT acceptable.

There are other acceptable combinations of supporting documents too, the above is just the most easily obtainable, and acceptable combination.

Further Important Steps:

Once the DBS has been processed, a copy of the certificate will be posted to your home address. Once you have received the certificate in the mail, please

  1. Upload a clear scanned copy of all pages to your Staffshift profile, or send it via WhatsApp or the Staffshift chat.

  2. Please register your DBS on the update service. You have 30 days from the date of issue to register it on the update service. This means, the DBS is now portable between employers, but more importantly, you can have an up to date DBS for £13 per year, instead of applying for a new DBS every year. The update service can be accessed via this link.
